Huawei and Shanghai Mobile jointly built the country's first 5G-A smart parking lot: it can save more than 30 minutes of parking time.

According to Huawei's official public number in China, Shanghai Mobile and Huawei have completed the construction of the country's first intelligent parking underground parking network in Taikoo Li, Qiantan, Pudong New Area. The parking lot is fully covered by multi-point new digital room sub-base stations, which can provide 5G-A network coverage for more than 70000 square meters of underground space.

According to reports, the new parking lot network supports car owners to enjoy high-definition audio and video or immersive online games, and can also enable emerging car applications, such as parking and driving, sentinel mode, etc. In addition, the parking and driving application can realize one-button autonomous parking and recall. During the parking process, the owner only needs to pay attention to real-time video to ensure the safety of the vehicle, and does not need to drive to find parking spaces in person. After the vehicle is parked, the sentry mode intervenes. Once abnormal behaviors such as vehicle scratching and window damage are detected, the owner will not only receive short messages and App push notifications, but also can check the four real-time.

Compared with the traditional parking lot network, which can only support basic network connection services such as on-board audio-visual entertainment, the 5G-A parking lot can provide an uplink capacity of over 500Mbps, which claims to be able to meet the needs of hundreds of cars using the parking and driving function at the same time. The 5G-A network can also realize a downlink super-gigabit rate, and the OTA version upgrade of the vehicle can be completed within 30 seconds at the earliest.

At the same time, the 5G-A new digital room sub-base station can realize meter-level positioning through software upgrade. Officials say that the average total time for consumers to park and find cars in reverse during peak hours is about 40 minutes, of which the time for finding parking spaces and people to find cars accounts for 70-80% of the total time. The parking lot supports automatic parking and indoor positioning, which can help consumers save more than 30 minutes of parking time. Officials also said that the digital room sub-network can support more economical 5G RedCap terminal access, and promote the widespread deployment of 5G in intelligent network vehicles by reducing the cost of 5G access.
